Clouds

You can stare up at the sky

but the sunshine's hid behind,

the clouds that shade the beauty,

casting darkness on your mind.

You can ponder how much better

this day could only be,

If the clouds were rolled away

and then goodness you would see.

But the clouds they are not clouds,

they're things you won't forget,

these clouds be smoke of fire,

unforgiveness and regret.

And as the darkness darkens

you stoke the flames be higher.

Fearing what the future holds

but fear is just a liar.

You think there's warmth in staring,

at the burning of these thoughts,

that somehow in this fire

happiness be brought.

But let these flames go out

and ashes cool to touch,

let the truth be seen,

for love revealeth much.
